That must be a Daimler thing. Chrysler Pacifica, among many, many reasons, I most hated you for having your DVD drive for navigation be in the trunk. And for charging $200 for the upgrade disc.

Option on VWs into the early 2000s...my 2004 Passat had a spot for the changer in the trunk.

I used to have an Alpine one that I think was touted as the "world's smallest 6-CD changer" when it was introduced.

I had it in 2 Rabbits, a Hilux, K2500, and finally a Ranger Supercab. It fit perfectly in the Ranger, installed upright behind the driver's side rear jump seat, where this guy keep his yellow straps:

I used to feel so grateful that while driving I could "conveniently" reach behind me, flip the seat out, flip the backrest down, open the dust cover, eject the cartridge, and change six discs on my lap.

iPod FTW.

Same with A6s I believe. Mine had one in one of the trunk tool compartments.

I feel like my mom's early 2000's Audi A6 had one

Yep, Germans were especially guilty of this. That picture is actually from a 92-99 S class. And BMW did the same too.

Ha, I still have a10 disk under the rear seat in the Vanagon.

I finally gave in, and am ripping all my catalog into the computer. Have started shopping for a non-obnoxious looking head unit that that BT, SD, USB, and iPod inputs.

Most of them look silly.

I'm really going to miss this HU. It had one of the best theft-proof features.
